Spring time in Copenhagen

Ah, spring is finally in the air here in Denmark and things are warming up rather nicely. Today was Queen Margrethe's birthday and she came out to greet everyone at Amalienborg (sadly, I couldn't go). To celebrate, the Danish flag was flying all over the place, including on the front of buses.

I'm making good progress on wrapping up the semester and getting all the last minute assignments and papers done but the fresh air and sunlight are tempting me to be outside instead.

Yesterday, I had a field study to the Danish Parliament (Folketing) and to the Copenhagen Police Headquarters which was really interesting. It's design is based on the Pantheon's round shape and has a lot of rotundas so that people can get easily lost in the hallways. I suppose that's a somewhat helpful design method? We also were given a lecture on protests and riots and how the Danish police force handles them and were given a demonstration of police men and women putting on their riot gear in under 5 minutes.

Next weekend I'm going to Hamburg with my Holocaust and Genocide class to visit a concentration camp. The weekend after I'll be going to Bornholm, the origins of the Riis family line!, to go on a biking adventure. Hopefully, my weekly bikes to the train station will have helped me to look like less of a fool. Otherwise nothing else is happening. Just basking in the beautiful weather and trying to stay afloat during the last 3 weeks of classwork.
